Today I would like to discuss about the health benefits of running or jogging. There are many reasons why some people engage in running or jogging. There are those who see running as a way to get physically fit, to lose excess weight, to release stress and tension. To others it is a leisurely way of spending time with family and friends, or a way of meeting new acquaintances, and even starting new relationships. For athletes, running is for sports and competition.

Whatever are a person’s reasons for running and jogging, they are definitely beneficial to his/her well-being. Because running can burn fat, a person is enabled to lose more calories per minute.
It also helps prevent muscle and bone loss that naturally accompanies old age. Running and high-intensity exercises have been proven to encourage human growth hormone, keeping our internal anatomy from getting old fast while helping us to look young and vibrant.

Another benefit of running is our ability to resist illness. It reduces the risk of heart stroke because running lowers blood pressure and maintains the elasticity of arteries. The risk of blood clotting is also reduced since running also aids in raising HDL or good cholesterol.

These are just some of the many benefits of running. If you are encouraged to engage in a running program, before you start with it, be sure to consult your doctor to check on the condition of your health, especially your heart. Make sure your limbs are properly stretched to avoid any muscle injuries. Drink lots of water or other fluids to avoid dehydration and don’t forget to wear the appropriate running clothes like the running shorts, running shoes, socks, t-shirts, etc. Choose the clothes made from comfortable fabrics and materials.
